Back Pain
How to Put an End to Back Pain and Stiffness - Without Taking Painkillers, Without Risking Surgery and Without Having to Wait to See the Doctor!
COMMON BACK CONDITIONS TREATED HERE:
Here is a list of some of the frequently treated back conditions that we see in our clinic:
If you or someone you know has lower back pain, stiffness or an ache, it is very common for people to think that it’s nothing. That “it will just go away on its own.” Often, people will brush it off and think “maybe I just slept wrong” or “maybe it’s from that round of golf or (insert activity), but it will work it’s way out.” Perhaps you have been led to believe that the stiffness and aches and pains are just a part of aging! "Everyone my age suffers from this.” Whatever the reason why your back started to hurt, it doesn’t seem to be getting any better!
If any of this is happening to you, you’re not alone…we hear this type of thing all the time. In fact, Lower Back Pain is one of THE most common problems that we see here in our clinic.
And when it comes to living with back pain, everybody we see wants to know the same thing!
“Why is This Happening to Me?”...
or
“Why Am I Still Suffering With Back Pain After Putting Up With It For 6 Months (Maybe More)?”
Most people think that when they get Back Pain, it’ll just go away on its own.
They hope that they’ll wake up one morning and like “magic”, it’ll be as if back pain never happened… But, 6 months later you’re still living with back pain, often even worse than it was when it came on.
Does That Sound Like You?
Another scenario we frequently see in our physical therapy clinic is when people go to the doctor, and the well-meaning doctor tells them to rest and “try these painkillers” and “see how it goes”.
This is rarely ever the best advice. Often, 6 weeks later, you end up going back to the doctor because your pain hasn’t improved or has worsened. Sadly, this time around you’re often given yet another prescription of even stronger pills and advised MORE rest. This is madness and explains why so many people suffer with chronic lower back pain and not getting any better!
Has This Type Of Thing Happened To You?
Scientific research overwhelmingly points to the effectiveness of conservative treatments, such as Physical Therapy, for low back pain. Despite this, and published guidelines suggesting conservative treatment as the best first option, physicians still often order imaging scans (like x-rays and MRI’s), prescribe narcotics, and refer patients to other physicians, including surgeons BEFORE trying Physical Therapy.
Why else does back pain last longer than it should? Well, it’s easy to get confused because you’ve been told different things, by different people. Some are professionals…and some are not. Think of that relative who told you to do a certain set of exercises because they once had a problem in that same region of the body and that’s what helped them. There are a lot of people out there who are happy to dispense advice – but not all of it is credible or appropriate given your specific condition.
The thing is, back pain can be complicated and there can be many different causes or contributing factors. If you don’t know what you’re doing, back pain can be very confusing and because of this, many people just end up accepting it as ‘part of life’ - as if it’s normal, and ‘just the way it is’.
